I can truly say I absolutely love my job but sometimes hearing people can be SO inexplicably ignorant.
While doing tactile interpreting at a doctors appointment today, the secretary proceeds to speak the following while talking to another Dr. on the phone in front of us:
“Yes I would like to make a follow up appointment for Mr. …”
“Yes you will need someone to talk to him for you (starts to whisper) cause he can’t speak for himself…”
“You will have to ‘order’ an interpreter”
Didn’t realize we come shipped express mail through UPS..
“(whispering) YES! That’s what I said..she’s like making gestures into his paws”
I REPEAT… She said “PAWS”!! No that was not a typo.
Better get my rabies shot… Didn’t realize I was dealing with wild animals everyday…
People AMAZE me! Unbelievable…
